Customer Reviews

It looks even more beautiful when seen with light through the glass.
The back of the rug is also beautiful.
When I unrolled it, I noticed signatures at both ends.
Albal workshop only has one signature.
This is another reason why Mel Mehdi is so amazing.
I couldn't unroll it in the middle of the room because I haven't finished tidying up my clutter.
It would probably look even better if I could lay it in the middle.
What's in the back is Natsume Soseki's calligraphy.
I felt as if Professor Soseki was also smiling, saying, "You've got a good one, haven't you?"
When a rug, made by two people over 18 months, is finally completed, do they shout, "We did it!"... Or do they feel blue, like it's time to let go of their 18-month-old child?
Anyway, after replying to the email, I almost shouted out when I unrolled the rug and saw it.
It's a rug too good for me.
Thank you very much.
It was truly good that I didn't give up and go home that day, even though I was lost.
Japanese people don't think of things in terms of cause and effect, but rather as "en" (fate/destiny).
They consider it fate when situation A leads to situation B, and from there to situation C.
I believe such an idea underlies the art form of emakimono (picture scrolls) as well.
So, as I gazed at the unrolled rug, the desire for the smaller one grew strong, and it bothered me... Thank you very much.
I'll visit again.

Comment from Golestan

Thank you for visiting us from afar the other day, and for sending us such a long and warm review.
We are also delighted that you took home one of the highest quality pieces from our inventory.
The signatures at both ends are a testament to the stature of the Mil Mehdi workshop, and the photo of it placed before Natsume Soseki's calligraphy had me, the store owner, straightening my posture.
A single rug woven by two people over 18 months represents enough work for a village weaver to build a house or prepare for a dowry.
I believe there is both the joy of completion and the quiet sadness of letting go of the threads that have been with them for so long.
I believe that the weavers will consider it the highest form of gratitude that you received it with the Japanese concept of "en" (fate/destiny).
Since you've developed a desire for another piece, we will contact you when another interesting work arrives.
We look forward to seeing you again.
