Description
When laid in the living room, two circular medallions are arranged vertically on a gentle off-white background, with dark green and brown sun motifs radiating within each. Delicate botanical borders frame a scene that embodies the understated beauty characteristic of Isfahan.
Dabari Workshop Medallion (Isfahan)
This piece is from the Dabari workshop in Isfahan, the city of beauty. Unlike Qum silk, it combines Isfahan's traditional "cork wool (the first fleece of a lamb) + silk embellishment," achieving both plump thickness and intricate decorative lines. In the center are two circular medallions, with dark green and brown sun motifs inside, and the entire field is filled with intricate botanical patterns (Eslimi). With a limited color palette, the intricate details become more apparent the closer you look.
Intricacy and Luster of Cork Wool & Silk
Only with a blend of cork wool and silk can one discern the central sun motifs of the medallions, the Eslimi patterns on the ground, and the intricate continuous floral patterns of the border. The matte texture of the wool and the luster of the silk decorative lines change expression with the angle of the light, a characteristic feature of Isfahan rugs.
How to Incorporate into Your Home
Measuring 110x162cm, this rug is the perfect size for an accent rug in the living room, in front of a desk in a study, in a bedroom, or framed as a wall hanging. The gentle off-white color scheme pairs well with both white walls and wood floors, adding a touch of elegant tranquility to the space. This rug is suitable for those seeking the understated beauty of Isfahan, which differs from the flamboyance of Qum silk.
This is a unique item personally acquired by the owner directly from a workshop in Isfahan. You can view the actual luster, intricate details, and the characteristics of both cork wool and silk in the video. Golestan Persian Carpet Specialty Store.
