Description
When laid in the living room, a crimson star-shaped medallion floats in the center of a light blue ground, with Esleemy (vines) extending around it, and small birds peeking out from among them. The deep blue border tightens the overall look, and the closer you get, the more detailed flowers and small birds become visible.
Habibi Workshop's Medallion (Isfahan)
This piece is from the Habibi Workshop in Isfahan, the city of beauty. Unlike Qum silk, it combines Isfahan's traditional "cork wool (first shearing of lamb) + silk ornamentation," achieving both plump thickness and delicate ornamental lines. A crimson star-shaped medallion is placed in the center, with a pair of smaller medallions (sarlachak) above and below, and the entire ground is filled with esleemy and countless small flowers. If you look closely, small birds lurk among the vines, and rose pink, deep green, and pale cream accents are effectively used at key points.
The Intricacy and Sheen of Cork Wool & Silk
Because it's a yarn that combines cork wool and silk, you can distinguish the rays of the star-shaped medallion, the esleemy and small birds on the ground, and even the continuous floral pattern of the border. The matte texture of the wool and the sheen of the silk ornamental lines change their expression with the angle of the light, creating a look unique to Isfahan.
How to Incorporate into Your Life
The 104x153cm size is perfect as an accent rug in the living room, in front of a desk in a study, beside a bed in a bedroom, or framed as a wall hanging. The light blue ground and deep blue border go well with both white walls and wooden floors, adding a touch of elegant tranquility to the space. This piece is suitable for those seeking the understated beauty of Isfahan, different from the splendor of Qum silk.
This is a one-of-a-kind item directly acquired by the owner from the Habibi workshop in Isfahan. You can check the actual sheen, intricate details, and the expressions of both cork wool and silk in the video. Persian Carpet Specialty Store Golestan.
