Description
Placed in front of a sofa, a golden medallion, like an open lotus flower, emerges from the pale pink ground, while purple butterflies and facing birds nestle in the four corners and border. The outer blue and sky blue tones tie the piece together, creating a paradise scene where new discoveries await the closer you look.
Medallion by Mirmehdi Workshop (Paradise of Butterflies and Birds)
This piece is a creation of the Mirmehdi workshop, highly acclaimed globally for its color sensibility and intricate detail among Qom silk carpets. It is a piece that the owner himself fell in love with and selected for our "Rare and Hard-to-Find Collection," as it would be extremely difficult to acquire another of the same quality. It features a lotus-shaped medallion in the center, an intricate arabesque pattern across the ground, butterflies with purple and light blue wings in the four corner lacaks and border, and two facing birds nestled between them. This piece combines the classic Latchak-o-Toranj composition with creatures from paradise.
The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk
Only with 100% fine silk threads can one discern the eye-spots on the butterfly wings, the shading on the wings of the facing birds, the lotus flower in the center of the medallion, and the intricate continuous floral pattern on the border. The pale pink ground gains luster with the angle of light, the blue border deepens, and the butterflies and birds emerge, a characteristic expression of silk. The more you look, the more new butterflies and birds you will discover; it is a piece meant to be enjoyed up close.
How to Incorporate into Your Home
At 108x160cm, it's the perfect size for a center rug in front of a sofa, a focal point in a reception room, a study, or framed as a centerpiece in a living room or study. The combination of pale pink and blue goes well with both white walls and wood-grain floors, adding elegance and a story to the space.
This is a rare and hard-to-find piece, specially chosen by the owner from a workshop in Qom, fallen in love with, and brought back. You can see the actual luster, intricate details, and the hidden butterflies and birds in the border in the video. Golestan Persian Carpet Specialty Store.
