Description
When unrolled in the reception room, a star-shaped dome radiating in eight directions emerges from the madder red background, with vases and flowers woven into each section. It is a dignified scene, a classical Gonbadi (dome pattern) arranged geometrically.
Eight-Directional Dome Pattern from Mirmehdy Workshop
This is a work from the Mirmehdy workshop, known for its delicate weaving among Qum silk carpets. The owner himself was so captivated by it that he chose it for his "Collection of Rare Masterpieces," as it would be extremely difficult to acquire another of the same quality. It features a classical composition with a star-shaped dome structure (Gonbadi) radiating in eight directions from the center, with vases and flowers placed in each section. The落ち着いた madder red ground color further enhances the floral patterns in each section.
The Precision and Luster Unique to Silk
Because it is made of fine 100% silk threads, you can discern the motifs in each radiating section, the outlines of the vases, and even the subtle gradations of the flowers. The madder red deepens with the angle of the light, and the flowers in each section appear to float, a characteristic expression of silk.
How to Incorporate into Your Life
At 142x224cm, it is the perfect size for a center rug in front of a three-seater sofa, a focal point in a reception room, or under a dining table. The combination of subdued red and multiple colors makes it easy to match with both Japanese and Western-style rooms.
This is a rare piece that the shop owner personally selected from a workshop in Qum, fell in love with, and brought back. You can see the actual luster and detailed geometric composition in the video. Golestan Persian Carpet Specialty Store.
Colours That Shift With the Angle
Thanks to the silk's sheen, the rug's character shifts with the viewing angle and the light.
