Description
When laid at the entrance, it reveals a scene where a pair of vases are quietly placed at the bottom of a navy blue ground, with colorful flowers blooming from the vines extending from them, and blue birds dancing among them. The more you look, the more individual flowers and birds you discover, making it a small garden in a single rug.
Milmehdi Workshop's Vines and Vases (Eslimi & Gordaan)
This piece is from the Milmehdi Workshop, known for its delicate floral and bird patterns among Qom silk rugs. A pair of vases (Gordaan in Persian) are placed at the bottom, from which vines (Eslimi) spread out to the left and right. Roses, chrysanthemums, tulips, and other flowers are densely clustered, and blue-winged birds are woven throughout the field. This rug quietly brings together the classical Persian vase motif on a navy blue ground.
Silk's Intricacy and Luster
Because it's 100% silk with fine threads, you can discern the overlapping petals, leaf veins, the blue and purple of the birds' feathers, and even the thin gold lines on the vases. The navy deepens with the angle of the light, and pink and gold emerge, a unique expression of silk.
How to Incorporate into Your Home
Measuring 63x91cm, it's the perfect size for an entrance mat, bedside rug, a center rug next to a sofa, or framed as a wall hanging. The calming navy blue is easy to match with white walls or wood-grain floors, adding a quiet focal point to your space.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece personally selected by the owner at a workshop in Qom. You can see the actual luster and intricate details in the video. Golestan Persian Rug Specialty Store.
