This rug features a deep navy field adorned with a vertical series of red and multi-colored medallions. It's crafted in the traditional nomadic style of the Qashqai tribe from the Shiraz region, with the navy background highlighting the patterns.

Qashqai Continuous Medallions

This is a rug from the Qashqai tribe, who live a nomadic life in southwestern Iran, around Shiraz. The composition of red medallions arranged vertically on a navy ground is characteristic of their patterns, with motifs of livestock and plants woven into the interior. The deep navy ground gives the piece a strong presence and elegantly showcases the multi-colored patterns.

100% Wool, from Their Own Sheep

The pile is wool. This rug is traditionally made by the Qashqai tribe using wool shorn from their own sheep. The variations in knots, unique to hand-weaving, create a depth not found in machine-made rugs.
