The Paradise and Birds of Mirmehdi Workshop

This is a work from the Mirmehdi Workshop, known for its delicate weaving even within Qom. The field is a cream ground, on which a vase (goldan) and a small central medallion are placed. Vines and flowers, along with numerous birds such as peacocks, doves, and small birds, are woven throughout the entire field. This composition, named "Behesht" (Paradise), is a piece that brings the "eternal spring" at the heart of the Persian carpet world view into the carpet. The material is a blend of cork wool (the first fleece of a lamb) and silk, resulting in a finish that possesses both luster and softness.

Because the threads are fine, you can distinguish the feathers of birds, the outlines of flowers, and even the fine floral patterns on the border. The way the cream color quietly changes depending on the angle of the light is also an expression unique to silk-blend threads.
