This is a traditional hand-woven wool rug with a medallion pattern, born from the nomadic way of life. Botanical and livestock motifs are scattered around a central medallion, creating a striking contrast with the background color.

Zanjan Medallion

The authentic Zanjan region in the northwest is a production area with a tradition of durable, everyday wool rugs. The medallion pattern with a distinct crimson and navy color scheme is standard, and this piece also belongs to that lineage.

The pile is wool. With approximately 320,000 knots per square meter, the pattern outlines are clear and crisp. The unevenness of hand-tied knots creates a depth and warmth not found in machine-made rugs.
