Sultanabad Floral Pattern

Sultanabad is the former name of a region in central Iran, around present-day Arak, a major center for Persian rug production. From the late 19th century, rugs woven in this region for the European market, featuring gentle designs of floral vines and blossoms spread across the entire surface, were widely embraced in classic Western interiors. This piece belongs to that tradition.
