About Sedighian Workshop
Workshop History
Sedighian Workshop was founded in 1973 within a family that had long been part of the carpet tradition. Its founder, Mohammad Sedighian, was known as one of the most accomplished carpet designers of his era. Mohammadreza Sedighian grew up immersed in the business and built up a deep store of experience from childhood. In 1996 he turned to carpet making in earnest, learning specialised techniques under the master of Jamshidi Workshop.
What Sets the Workshop Apart
What makes a Sedighian carpet special is the combination of quality and artistry. Every piece is made from carefully selected high-grade materials and pursues a harmony of traditional design with beautiful colour. Hand-woven from pure silk thread, the work achieves an artistry that meets international standards — this is the heart of Sedighian's appeal.
Innovation and Growth
In 2016 the Sedighian Gallery took a further step forward. With a focus on developing new designs and actively bringing on gifted weavers, the workshop produced pieces that married traditional technique with contemporary sensibility. The gallery's original designs have drawn wide attention, and both new and older pieces released in limited quantities are highly regarded.
Today, Sedighian pieces have reached not only their homeland but also Europe, East Asia, and the Arabian Gulf — loved by collectors around the world.

The Workshop's Signature
The signature is woven in elegant Persian calligraphy reading "Qom · Sedighian", with a lion motif at each end. The lion is a classical Persian design element that symbolises strength and dignity.
Each workshop has its own distinctive colour palette and pattern style.
Colour & Pattern Profile
The hallmark of the design is a large, prominent central medallion that anchors the whole composition.

Spread out in the reception room, a large oval medallion emerges from a pale blue ground, with a vase motif inside and golden paisleys (boteh) swaying on either side. A two-tiered border of pink and brown elegantly frames the whole, creating a piece that embodies both softness and dignity.
Sedighian Workshop's Vase Medallion (Goldan & Tranj)
This piece is from the Sedighian Workshop, a powerhouse in Qom silk. It combines the classical "Goldan & Tranj" (vase + medallion) composition with a soft pale blue field and a deep brown border. Inside the central medallion is a vase (goldan) motif, flanked by golden paisleys, and with lachaks (corner designs) in the four corners. The pink inner border further enhances the pale blue, creating a contemporary yet classically dignified color scheme.
The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk
Because it is tightly woven with fine 100% silk threads, the vase in the center of the medallion, the paisleys on either side, the lachaks in the four corners, and even the two-tiered pink and brown border are all discernible. The pale blue changes as if breathing with the angle of the light, and the deep, subdued luster of the silk is also an expression unique to silk.
How to Incorporate into Your Home
At 139 x 211 cm, it's the perfect size for a center rug in front of a 2-3 seater sofa, a focal point in a reception room, or under a dining table. The combination of pale blue and brown complements both white walls and wooden floors, adding a serene dignity and softness to the space simultaneously.
