When laid in the living room, a multi-colored sun medallion floats on a deep purple background, and upon closer inspection of the border, you can see miniatures of the ancient Persepolis palace, chariots, and figures. It is a piece that embeds a story from Persian history within a classical medallion composition.

This is a work from the Mohammadi workshop, known for its unique designs incorporating historical motifs, even among Qom silk products. A multi-colored sun (Shamse) medallion is placed in the center, and the outer perimeter features a black border with a series of small figures depicting the ancient Persepolis palace, chariots, and people. This piece incorporates scenes from Persepolis, one of the greatest historical sites in Persia, as a story within the classical Lachak-o-Toranj (corner & medallion) composition.

The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk

Because it is made of fine 100% silk threads, you can discern even the sun medallion in the center, the small flowers scattered across the ground, the palace columns on the border, the chariot wheels, and the outlines of the figures. Depending on the angle of the light, the deep purple deepens, and the multi-colored border shimmers like jewels, a characteristic expression of silk.
