When unfurled in the reception room, a star-shaped medallion floats on a deep black background, with pink rosettes and multi-colored sunburst patterns glowing within. Circular medallions are symmetrically placed in the four corners, and a black border tightens the whole, creating a scene like an open jewelry box.

Medallion by Nouri Workshop (Rachak-o-Toranj)

This piece is from the Nouri workshop, known for the delicacy of its color usage even among Qom silk carpets. It combines the classical "Rachak-o-Toranj" (corner + medallion) composition with a deep black field and a variety of flowers. At the center is a star-shaped (octagonal) medallion, with gold and pink sunburst patterns inside it, and large circular rachaks in the four corners. The entire ground is scattered with multi-colored floral arabesques, woven over a long period of time.

The Detail and Sheen Unique to Silk

Because it is a tightly woven piece made of fine 100% silk threads, one can discern the contours of the star-shaped medallion, the intricate decorations of the rachaks in the four corners, the multi-colored flowers scattered on the ground, and even the continuous floral patterns of the border. Depending on the angle of the light, the deep black recedes deeply, and the colorful flowers emerge like jewels—an expression unique to silk.
