When laid in your living room, the pale sea-green ground features eight arched windows, four on each side. In the center is a large circular mosaic ceiling, and within each window are eight-pointed stars and geometric mosaics. Round rosettes are rhythmically arranged along the copper-colored border, creating a scene like looking down from directly above into the interior of an Islamic building.

"Window to Paradise" by Mir Mehdi Workshop (Moroccan Composition)

This piece is by the renowned Mir Mehdi workshop, famous for its Qum silk. Unlike typical medallion panel designs, this work features a "Moroccan composition" that flattens the mosaic decorations of Islamic architecture. The large circular medallion in the center represents the geometric decoration of a mosque's dome ceiling viewed from directly below, while the eight arched windows depict openings looking into paradise. Inside the arched windows are eight-pointed stars and intricate geometric mosaics, with interwoven patterns on the top and bottom edges, and a regular series of round rosettes on the border. With a limited color palette, this piece highlights the beauty of geometric repetition.

The Luster and Intricacy of 100% Silk

Because it is 100% silk, the details become more apparent the closer you look, from the geometric radiation of the circular ceiling and the eight-pointed stars within the arched windows, to the continuous rosettes of the border and the interwoven braid patterns. The luster of the silk changes with the angle of the light, and the subtle contrast between the sea-green and copper colors emerges, which is the true essence of Qum silk.

How to Incorporate It into Your Home

The 144x232cm size is suitable for placement in front of a living room sofa, under a dining table, or in a reception room. The sea-green ground and copper-colored border pair well with both white walls and wooden floors, adding an intellectual serenity reminiscent of architectural decoration to the space. This piece is ideal for those who appreciate the abstract qualities of architecture and the beauty of geometric repetition, rather than the overt splendor of a central medallion.

This unique item was directly acquired by the owner from the Mir Mehdi workshop in Qum. You can view a video showcasing the actual luster, intricate geometric mosaics, and the composition of the eight windows and circular ceiling. Golestan Persian Carpet Specialty Store.
