When hung in an entryway or on a wall, a yellow and purple diamond medallion appears to float in the deep dark brown ground. From the central sunburst to the outer edge, the entire ground is filled with vines and countless small flowers, and the border depicts a continuous scene of deer, lions, and peacocks in silhouette.

Fouladzan Workshop's Diamond Medallion (Field of Small Animals and Lion)

This piece is by the Fouladzan Workshop, known for its Qum silk rugs. It features a diamond medallion in the center with a yellow and purple sunburst inside, paired spandrels above and below, and small scenes (small animals and miniature buildings) in the four corners. The dark brown ground is adorned with intricate vines and countless small flowers, the border has a continuous multi-colored floral pattern, and the narrow bands at the top and bottom edges are woven with silhouettes of deer, lions, and peacocks. This rug combines classical Lachak-Toranj with elements of animal paintings and paradise gardens.
