This is a work from the Mir Mehdi workshop, known for its delicate weaving even among Qom silk carpets. "Golriz" is Persian for "scattering flowers," and this piece lives up to its name with small flowers scattered across the entire surface. A large hexagonal medallion is placed in the center, with small pendants above and below, and rachaks (corner details) in the four corners, filling the entire ground with fine arabesques. The field is deep mocha, and the border is a calming light green that tightens the overall look. This is a rare large piece woven over many months.

The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk

Precisely because it is woven with fine 100% silk threads into a dense weave, every detail is discernible, from the small flowers in the center of the medallion to each individual flower scattered on the ground and the continuous floral pattern on the border. The mocha deepens and the light green emerges depending on the angle of the light, a characteristic expression of silk. The impression changes depending on the direction it is laid, as the appearance differs with and against the pile.
