Arabesque and Floral Design by Mir Mehdi Workshop (Afshan)

This is a work by the Mir Mehdi workshop, known among Qum silk rugs for its mastery of all-over floral designs without medallions. The arabesque (Eslimi in Persian) vines connect from flower to flower, creating a rhythmic pattern that combines tranquility with elegance. This composition, called "Afshan" (scattered), is captivating for its quiet presence, as no single part of the rug dominates.

Silk's Unique Detail and Luster

Because it's made from fine 100% silk threads, every detail is discernable: the thin lines of the arabesque, the overlapping petals, and even each tiny flower in the border's intricate floral pattern. Depending on the angle of light, the cream glows warmly, and the pink and blue flowers seem to emerge, a characteristic expression unique to silk.
