When laid at the entrance, a detailed sunburst medallion, like a jewel, is set in the center of the deep maroon ground, framed by a gold scalloped border. Above and below the fringe, there are hidden images of small lions and crowns lined up, a scene where more discoveries are made the closer one looks.

Ali Jeddi Workshop's Jewel-like Medallion (Repetitive)

This is a work from the Ali Jeddi workshop, a prestigious family known for Qum silk. A detailed sunburst medallion is in the center, surrounded by finely woven repetitive floral patterns radiating outwards. The ground is a deep maroon, and the border features a continuous gold floral pattern with a scalloped edge. Above and below the fringe are rows of small lions and crowns, a classical hidden motif that is a hallmark of Jeddi family rugs. The weaver's signature is at the bottom.

Woven with fine 100% silk threads in a dense weave, every detail, from the border of the sunburst medallion, the outlines of the repetitive floral patterns, the gold scalloped edge, to the lions and crowns near the fringe, is discernible. The maroon deepens and the gold shimmers depending on the angle of the light, an expression unique to silk.
