Border Colour
Black
Place it on a table or shelf, and a deep blue (lapis lazuli) field will be dotted with small, star-like white flowers, with a small bouquet of roses blooming in the central oval medallion. The black border features red and orange paisley patterns and a continuous coral flower design. This piece condenses the compositional beauty of a Persian rug into a palm-sized item.
Miniature Classic Medallion
This is a small Lachak-o-Toranj (medallion + four corners) rug, hand-knotted from Qom silk. The central oval cartouche features a rose bouquet on a dark green background, the field is lapis lazuli with small white star flowers, and the border is black with paisley and continuous flower patterns. The classic composition is fully captured in this miniature size.
The Intricacy and Sheen Unique to Silk
Because it is made from fine 100% silk threads, even in this small size, you can distinguish the roses in the center of the medallion, the star flowers scattered on the field, and the paisley patterns on the border. The lapis lazuli deepens with the angle of the light, and the rose pink and black border emerge, a characteristic expression of silk.
How to Incorporate It into Your Life
At 27x41cm, it's the perfect size to use as a mat under vases or small items, a coaster, a table center, or framed as table art or a wall decoration. Lapis lazuli, a noble deep blue also called "the color of the gods" in ancient times, pairs well with both white walls and wood-grained furniture, adding a small, jewel-like focal point to any space. It is also a well-received small gift.
This is a one-of-a-kind item that the shop owner personally acquired from Qom. You can see the actual sheen and intricate details in the video. Golestan Persian Carpet Specialty Store.
