When displayed in the entryway, the vibrant teal color catches your eye every time you open the door. The Tree of Life rises straight from the vase below, flanked by a pair of facing lines on either side, revealing more details the closer you get.

Alvar Workshop's Vase and Tree of Life

This piece is from the Alvar workshop, known for the intricate detail of its designs within Qom. A large vase (ghordan) is placed at the bottom center, from which the Tree of Life extends upwards, enclosed by an arch at the top. A pair of lions are arranged on either side. It's a complex design that superimposes the Tree of Life and lions onto a classic "prayer niche (mehrab) type" composition, creating a narrative piece. The field is teal, and the blue border around the edge gives the whole piece a refined look.

Because it's made of 100% fine silk threads, the details of the vase, the flow of the leaves, and even the lions are distinguishable. The way the teal color quietly changes depending on the angle of the light is also a unique characteristic of silk.
