Description
When unfurled across the living room, a central medallion emerges on a sepia ground, along with five panels at the top, bottom, and corners. Within each, the Tree of Life and a paradisiacal scene are woven. Closer inspection reveals pheasants facing each other among the flowers, and as you draw nearer, new birds and flowers appear, making it a grand masterpiece resembling an illustrated scroll.
The Tree of Life and Five Panels by Mirmehdi Workshop
This is a work from the Mirmehdi workshop, known for its delicate narrative paintings even among Qum silk products. The owner himself was so captivated by this piece that he selected it for the "Collection of Rare Masterpieces," as acquiring another of the same quality would be extremely difficult. Named "Drakhti and 5 Frame (Tree of Life and Five Panels)," the composition features an oval medallion in the center surrounded by five cartouches at the top, bottom, and corners. Each cartouche is woven with the Tree of Life and a floral paradise. This cultural heritage-grade masterpiece features hidden images of pheasants and small birds facing each other among the flowers, and a blend of cork wool and silk that achieves both luster and softness.
Finely Detailed Lustrous Wool & Silk
Because of the combination of cork wool (the first fleece of a lamb) and fine silk threads, you can discern the Tree of Life in each panel, the feathers of the pheasants and small birds, the nuances of the flower petals, and the intricate arabesque decorations of the border. The sepia ground subtly changes expression with the angle of light, and the silk parts emerge, showcasing the unique character of the materials. Carpets woven over long periods by skilled artisans possess a subtle undulation and depth that cannot be replicated by machines.
How to Integrate into Your Home
Measuring 203x306cm, it is a suitable size to be the centerpiece of an entire living room, a reception room, or placed under a dining table. The combination of sepia and multiple colors makes it easy to match with both white walls and wooden floors, adding elegance and a story to the space. It is a grand masterpiece worthy of being passed down as a family heirloom.
This is a rare piece that the shop owner acquired directly from a workshop in Qum. You can see the actual luster, the details of the five panels, and the hidden images of pheasants and small birds in the video. GOLISTAN Persian Carpet Specialty Store.
