Description
When displayed in a reception room, the double archways standing on a gold ground present a view as if peering into the interior of an ancient ruin. At the bottom, a pair of vases are placed, creating a composition reminiscent of a palace prayer area replicated on a rug.
Jalili Workshop Double Prayer Arch and Vases
This is a piece from the Jalili workshop, known for its delicate weaving within Qom. Two "mehrab (prayer arch)" shaped arches are arranged side-by-side on a gold/light brown field, with a pair of vases (goldan) placed beneath them. The composition replicates a Persian architectural prayer area directly onto the rug, and the upper section features decorations reminiscent of the domes of ancient ruins. This is a unique piece that expands upon the classic vase motif with architectural elements.
The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk
Thanks to the fine 100% silk threads, every detail is discernible, from the curves of the arches and the decoration of the vases to the tiny floral patterns scattered across the field. The way the gold subtly changes its expression with the angle of the light is also a characteristic unique to silk.
How to Integrate into Your Home
Measuring 100x151cm, this rug is the perfect size for a reception room, at the foot of a bed in a bedroom, as a hallway runner, or framed as a wall hanging. Its strong architectural motif makes it particularly striking when displayed framed.
