Description
When unfurled in a reception room, cream-colored medallions float on a navy ground, surrounded by a finely woven pattern of Islimi (curving vine tendrils) and flowers. This piece beautifully encapsulates the classic medallion + Lachak composition.
Medallion and Vine from the Mirmehdi Workshop
This is a work from the Mirmehdi workshop, known for its delicate weaving among Qom rugs. A cream-colored central medallion and Lachak (corner emblems) are arranged on a deep navy field, with Islimi (curving vine tendrils) and multicolored floral patterns woven throughout the entire field. The border features reddish-brown and cream floral patterns, and the signature is also woven in. This piece combines the classical medallion composition with intricate, flowing Islimi patterns.
The Precision and Luster Unique to Silk
Because it's 100% silk with fine threads, every detail of the medallion, the vines in the field, and even the letters of the signature on the border are discernible. The way the navy subtly changes its expression with the angle of the light is also a unique characteristic of silk.
How to Incorporate into Your Home
At 107x170cm, it's the perfect size for a reception room or at the foot of a bed in a bedroom, as a runner in a hallway, or framed as a wall decoration. The subdued combination of navy and reddish-brown makes it a versatile piece that can complement both Japanese and Western-style rooms.
This is a one-of-a-kind item selected from Qom and brought to you. You can see the actual luster and intricate details in the video. Golestan, a specialist Persian rug store.
