When laid on the floor, the rug depicts a scene of a king and queen riding white horses through a sea-green field, surrounded by mounted hunters chasing deer and gazelles. A closer look reveals finely detailed individual scenes: figures drawing bows, brandishing swords, running dogs, and birds soaring through the sky. It is as if a Persian royal hunting scroll has been unfurled on a single rug.

This piece reimagines the "Shekargar" hunting scenes favored by ancient Persian royalty, weaving in a narrative about a king and queen. The king and queen on their white horses are placed in the center, surrounded by mounted hunters, with finely woven deer, gazelles, dogs, beasts, and birds. The calming sea-green ground color further enhances the hues of the characters' costumes.

Shading and Luster Unique to Wool & Silk

This work is woven not solely from silk, but from a combination of cork wool and silk. The subdued texture of wool coexists with the delicate luster of silk, giving natural shading to the characters' costumes and the horses' manes.
