This is a hand-woven piece from the Khorasan region of eastern Persia. Unlike the splendor of Qom silk, it boasts the unique rustic and powerful expression characteristic of Khorasan. A deep red hexagonal medallion is placed at the center, with small octagons (gol-like) and intricate floral patterns layered within it. The wide cobalt blue field creates a deep, calming hue, and the octagonal patterns and small flowers scattered within the cream-colored spandrels in the four corners convey the warmth of village craftsmanship.
