This is a hand-woven piece from the Khorasan region of eastern Persia. Unlike the extravagance of Qom silk, its charm lies in the rustic yet powerful expression unique to Khorasan. The central diamond medallion features intricate floral patterns on a deep red ground, while small flowers adorn the red Sarrakhs above and below, and cypress patterns extend across the gold ground. Small animals and tiny flowers line the cream-colored cartouche frame, evoking the feel of village life.
