In the Arak region of central Iran, classical medallion designs have been woven since the 19th century. The central emblem is said to be a stylized representation of dome decorations found on ceilings, arranged symmetrically on all sides. Despite using many colors, the navy background keeps the overall look from being too busy.

The pile is 100% wool. With a density of approximately 320,000 knots per square meter, the patterns are clearly defined. While the wool gives a subtle sheen, the rug is soft underfoot and comfortable to walk on.
