The design features a diamond-shaped frame on a red ground, with small, continuous boteh (paisley) patterns spreading across the entire inside. This is a traditional Shiraz Qashqai weave, characterized by its dense and intricate finish.

Boteh (Paisley) — Teardrop-shaped motif

The boteh pattern, considered to be the origin of the paisley pattern, is a teardrop-shaped motif called "Boteh" in Persian. It is said to have various origins, such as the cypress tree, a woman's tear, or fire, and symbolizes prosperity and eternal life. The Qashqai tribe is known for weaving this pattern repeatedly and very finely.

100% Wool, Intricately Handwoven

The pile is wool. At approximately 320,000 knots per square meter, it is a fine weave for a nomadic style. The variations in the handwoven knots create subtle shading on the surface of the rug, giving each boteh a slightly different expression.
