Bakhtiari Heshty (Garden Pattern)

This is a rug made by the Bakhtiari people, who live a semi-nomadic life in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province in the central west. The method of depicting different images within grid panels called "Heshty" is their representative design, and in Japan, it is also called "Garden Pattern."

100% Wool, from Their Own Sheep's Wool

The pile is wool. With approximately 180,000 knots per square meter, the motifs in each section are clearly depicted. The unevenness of the knots, characteristic of hand-weaving, creates a rustic warmth not found in machine-made rugs.
