Description
This is a hand-woven wool rug with a traditional medallion composition, born from the nomadic lifestyle. With a central medallion as its axis, motifs of plants and livestock are scattered around, creating a striking contrast with the ground color.
Shiraz Nomadic Medallion
These are rugs made by the Qashqai and Yarmeh tribes who live a nomadic life in Shiraz, southern Iran. A central medallion and small motifs of plants and livestock are arranged with a sense of color born from their way of life.
100% Wool, from their own sheep's wool
The pile is wool. With approximately 320,000 knots per square meter, the outlines of the patterns are clearly defined. The variations in knots unique to hand-weaving create a depth and warmth that machine-woven rugs lack.
