When hung in an entryway or on a wall, a colorful medallion, including pink, green, and gold, appears to float within a pale purple frame, surrounded by intertwining vines, vases, and small animals. At the top, a narrow band depicts village life, while at the bottom, fringes extend.

Botanical Dye Medallion from Mohammad Jamshidi Workshop

Among Qum silk carpets, this silk piece is exclusively made using "botanical dyes" (vegetable dyes) by the main branch of the Jamshidi family, the Mohammad Jamshidi workshop. It features earthy, subdued reds that chemical dyes cannot produce, deep and clear indigo, and gentle golden-browns. Even with many colors, the overall composition is quietly harmonious because the botanical dyes naturally resonate with each other. The center features a petal-shaped medallion, a radial sun motif inside, saralachaks at the top and bottom, and vine spandrels in the four corners. The field is scattered with vases (goldani) and small animals, a characteristic composition of Jamshidi botanical dyes.

100% Silk Luster and Intricacy

Because it is 100% silk, the closer you get, the more details you can see, from the sun motif in the center of the medallion to the vases and small animals in the field, and the intricate vines in the border. The silk's luster changes with the angle of the light, making the layers of color stand out. This piece expresses the true essence of Qum silk through botanical dyes.
