Miniature Medallion from the Masoud Jamshidi Workshop

This is a besteveri work from the Masoud Jamshidi workshop, known among the prestigious Jamshidi family of Qom silk for its compositional beauty and respect for history. The central medallion features a miniature painting of figures (seated royalty or lovers) woven in a circular cartouche in the tradition of Persian miniature painting, surrounded by red and gold wavy cartouches. In the four corners are miniatures of a palace on a green ground (a garden with a colonnaded pavilion). The border is a deep navy with intricate continuous floral patterns. This is a single piece that unfolds the splendor of ancient Persian court culture across the entire carpet.

This work is made from 100% silk, with fine threads woven densely. This allows for the identification of patterns on the figures' clothing in the central medallion, the outlines of their expressions, the pillars and arches of the palace in the four corners, the details of the green garden, and each individual flower in the continuous border. The gold gains luster with the angle of the light, the deep navy sinks deeply, and the miniature figures emerge—an expression unique to silk.
