This piece is a creation from the prestigious Milmehdi workshop, renowned for Qom silk. It features a rare combination of "cork silk" (cork wool & silk) for a Qom piece, achieving both a plump thickness and delicate decorative lines. The composition is an "all-over pattern" with a small rosette in the center, and the entire field filled with vines, vases, a pair of phoenixes, and rosettes. The border is lined with intricate continuous floral patterns and small birds, and signature cartouches are woven into the top and bottom edges, characteristic of a Milmehdi workshop piece.

The Intricacy and Luster of Cork Silk

Thanks to the combination of cork wool and silk, every detail from the vines and vases on the field to the phoenix feathers and the intricate continuous floral patterns on the border is clearly discernible. The matte texture of the wool and the luster of the silk decorative lines create a unique expression that changes with the angle of light, a hallmark of cork silk.
