History of the Workshop
Aghaghol Mirmheidi is the founder of "Mirmheidi Workshop". He was born in 1932 in Jasb, which was once part of Isfahan Province and is now part of Markazi Province. He began making hand-woven carpets at the age of 16 and completed his first work.
His first woven carpet was a wool carpet with a Caucasian-style pattern, measuring 2.5 x 3.5m. It was made in Jasb with a navy blue base. Later, he expanded his design range by collaborating with prominent designers from Kashan, such as Seyed Reza Khan Sanai, Afsari Kashan, and Sazvar.
He created carpets by adding his unique sense of color to the sketches drawn by these designers. All of his early works were made of wool, with a weaving density of 30-40 Raj (a unit representing the weaving density of Persian carpets). His reputation quickly spread due to the delicate weaving by skilled artisans, the use of high-quality wool, the adoption of traditional designs, and his unique color techniques.
Challenges of the Workshop
In addition to producing wool carpets, he also began producing silk carpets in Qom. His first silk carpet was a 6-meter pure silk piece with a Shah Abbasi pattern in navy blue. Through his tireless efforts and passion, he established one of the largest hand-woven carpet workshop brands in Qom.
Characteristics of the Workshop
Mirmheidi Workshop carpets are distinguished by their beauty and originality, created in collaboration with Persia's leading designers. Founder Aghaghol Mirmheidi's unique coloring techniques add unparalleled charm to his works.
Furthermore, they carefully select the highest quality silk and wool, and skilled artisans weave them using traditional techniques with high craftsmanship. In addition, thorough quality control, with attention to every detail, ensures the continuous production of highly finished carpets. As a result, Mirmheidi Workshop carpets are highly acclaimed as works of art worldwide.
Mission of the Workshop
Currently, Mirmheidi Workshop is celebrating its 74th anniversary and continues to produce the finest silk Persian carpets in Qom under the guidance of Aghaghol Mirmheidi and his sons (Ali, Reza, Abolfazl, Mohammad).
The mission of this workshop is to preserve Persia's traditional techniques while creating the highest quality works of art and delivering them to people around the world. Currently, Mirmheidi Workshop carpets elegantly adorn galleries, museums, and residences worldwide.
Check the workshop signature before purchase.
The Workshop's Signature
The signature is woven in elegant Persian calligraphy reading "Qom · Mirmehdi". When the workshop name appears subtly throughout the carpet — in the field, medallion, pendants, corners, and borders — it is regarded as a mark that Mirmehdi himself was satisfied enough to sign off the whole piece.
Each workshop has its own distinctive colour palette and pattern style.
Colour & Pattern Profile
Mirmehdi Workshop pieces are distinguished by rare geometric patterns and a signature "paradise of small birds" motif. Built around soft greens and blues, the colours hold their vivid clarity even decades on. Some of the tones come from natural plant dyes, lending the work a quiet warmth.
The craftsmen's care shows in the weave — perfectly even, with the patterns so alive they almost seem to move. Through painstaking workmanship, these carpets transcend their purpose as floor coverings and become works of art in their own right.

"Mihrab" (prayer niche)-shaped arch windows are arranged vertically and horizontally across the entire field, with octagonal starburst patterns woven into each window. The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk

The Paradise and Birds of Mirmehdi Workshop
This is a work from the Mirmehdi Workshop, known for its delicate weaving even within Qom. The field is a cream ground, on which a vase (goldan) and a small central medallion are placed. Vines and flowers, along with numerous birds such as peacocks, doves, and small birds, are woven throughout the entire field. This composition, named "Behesht" (Paradise), is a piece that brings the "eternal spring" at the heart of the Persian carpet world view into the carpet. The material is a blend of cork wool (the first fleece of a lamb) and silk, resulting in a finish that possesses both luster and softness.
The Precision and Luster Unique to Cork Wool & Silk
Because the threads are fine, you can distinguish the feathers of birds, the outlines of flowers, and even the fine floral patterns on the border. The way the cream color quietly changes depending on the angle of the light is also an expression unique to silk-blend threads.

The border is lined with intricate continuous floral patterns and small birds, and signature cartouches are woven into the top and bottom edges, characteristic of a Milmehdi workshop piece.
The Intricacy and Luster of Cork Silk

Mihrab Pattern (Prayer Arch and Tree of Life) by Mirmehdi Workshop
This piece is by the renowned Mirmehdi Workshop, famous for Qom silk. "Mihrab" refers to the niche in a mosque wall that indicates the qibla direction (Mecca). This work uses the mihrab arch as a frame for the composition, with a tree of life extending inside it. A golden arch and columns on either side are set against a jet-black background, with flowers, small birds, and the tree of life inside.
