Looking down at the carpet, the pattern radiating outwards from the center in eight directions is reminiscent of looking up at the dome ceiling of an ancient ruin. This piece incorporates the theme of the classical Persian work "Hasht Behesht" (Eight Heavens).

Eight Heavens by Mirmehdi Workshop

This piece is from the Mirmehdi workshop, known for its delicate weaving in Qom. Against a mocha (beige-brown) background, a star-shaped dome structure radiates in eight directions from the center, with roses, vines, and small circular medallions arranged in each section. "Hasht Behesht" is a composition often seen in ancient architectural dome ceilings, and in Persian carpets, it is a classic known as the "Gombadi pattern" (dome pattern). When the owner first saw it locally, he was drawn to its precise alignment of radiation and the balance of colors.

The Intricacy and Sheen Unique to Silk

Because it is made of fine 100% silk threads, the motifs in each radiating section, the petals of the roses, and the flow of the leaves are all discernible. The way the mocha subtly changes its expression with the angle of the light is also unique to silk.
