As you approach it, a large tree silhouette in the center and a pair of birds on either side emerge from among the red and pink flowers densely woven into the field. The more you gaze at it up close, the more discoveries you make, due to the dense colors and shapes.

This is a work by the Mirmehdi workshop, which is highly regarded for its delicate use of color even within Qum. Red and pink flowers are densely woven across the entire navy background, with a large tree silhouette including a boteh (paisley) in the center, and a pair of birds on either side. Although it is a classical composition known as the "Tree of Life," Mirmehdi's unique abstract sensibility is evident in the way the tree is not depicted with an explicit trunk, but is instead integrated with the floral pattern of the entire field.
