Hasht Behesht (Eight Paradises) from Milmehdi Workshop

This piece is from the Milmehdi Workshop, known for its expertise in the geometric composition of dome patterns (Gombadi) among Qom silk carpets. Adopting the Hasht Behesht composition, which means "Eight Paradises" in Persian, it expands from an octagonal star in the center with rows of rose patterns in diamond panels. This bright-toned piece depicts the cream background as the sky and the pink roses as the flowers of paradise.

The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk

Because it is made of fine 100% silk threads, every rose in each diamond panel, the border of the octagonal star, the blue arch decorations in the corners, and the delicate geometric patterns of the border are discernible. The cream takes on a greater luster with the angle of the light, and the pink of the roses and accents of blue emerge—an expression unique to silk.
