Sajjadi Workshop Medallion (Lachak-o-Toranj)

This piece is a creation of the Sajjadi Workshop, known for its exquisite weaving among Qum silk carpets. It combines the classical "Lachak-o-Toranj (corner + medallion)" composition with a warm, monochromatic chestnut color scheme. At its center is a multi-layered lozenge-shaped medallion, with cream and pale green solar motifs inside, and lachaks (corners) at the four corners. The entire ground is covered with intricate arabesques, and the border features a continuous pattern of the same flowers. The subdued color palette adds an extra touch of elegance to a tranquil reception room.

The Intricacy and Sheen Unique to Silk

Because it is woven with fine 100% silk threads in a dense pile, every detail is discernable, from the solar motifs in the center of the medallion and the slender stems of the arabesques on the ground to the lachaks in the four corners and the continuous flower pattern on the border. This is the unique character of silk: the chestnut deepens in certain angles of light, and the cream inside the medallion seems to float. The impression changes depending on the pile direction, so the rug's orientation also alters its look.
