Description
Viewed from the front, the composition looks as if you are gazing into a garden through the arch of a mosque. A cypress tree stretches up in the center, with vases above and below it. This is a classic Persian rug composition with religious significance.
Albar Workshop's Cypress and Vases (Mihrab Design)
This piece is from the Albar workshop, known for its intricate weaving among Qom rugs. It features an arch-shaped composition called a "mihrab" (prayer niche), with a cypress tree (symbol of eternity) in the center and vases (goldsmith) above and below it. The field is a turquoise background with a fine floral pattern, and small golden vases are depicted in the four corners of the border, creating a composition that resonates with the field. When the owner first saw it locally, they were drawn to the contrast between the transparency of the turquoise and the golden vases.
The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk
Because it is made of fine 100% silk threads, you can discern even the cypress leaves, the decorations on the vases, and the fine floral patterns in the field. The way the turquoise subtly changes its expression depending on the angle of the light is also unique to silk.
How to Incorporate into Your Home
At 102 x 150 cm, it is the perfect size for a reception room, bedroom, the center of a hallway, or framed as a wall hanging. The mihrab design is also a composition that looks best when displayed vertically. Since silk is tightly woven, it does not attract fine dust, static electricity is unlikely to occur, and daily maintenance only requires vacuuming.
