Islimi Pattern from the Mir Mehdi Workshop

This piece is from the Mir Mehdi workshop, renowned for its delicate weaving among Qum carpets. The deep field is densely woven with "Islimi," an Islamic curved vine pattern, and multi-colored flowers across its entirety. The border, featuring a rose pattern on a dark red (maroon) ground, creates a strong contrast with the field, giving the whole piece a refined look. Its composition, without a central medallion and featuring an "all-over pattern," is a continuation of traditional Persian carpet designs.

Because it is woven from fine 100% silk threads, every single flower and vine outline scattered across the field, as well as the roses in the border, are clearly discernible. The way the maroon (Bordeaux) subtly changes its expression with the angle of light is also a unique characteristic of silk.
