Description
Hung in a hallway or on a wall, a vibrant blue cloud medallion floats in the center of a deep green frame. The scene features intertwined vines, countless small flowers, and the silhouette of a small deer, spreading from a multicolored sunburst in the center to a green field on the outer edge.
Mohammad Jamshidi Workshop: Vegetable-Dyed Eight-Color Medallion (Blue Cloud Medallion and Green Field)
This silk piece is created using a "vegetable dyeing (plant dye)" technique, a tradition maintained only by the mainstream Mohammad Jamshidi Workshop among all Qom silk carpets. This particular piece incorporates eight colors achievable with plant dyes, featuring a vibrant blue cloud-shaped (ogival) medallion in the center, with a multicolored sunburst and intricate vase within. The outer edge showcases intertwining vines and countless small flowers on a deep green ground, with small deer silhouettes in the four corners. It displays a deep, clear blue, profound green, earthy red, and gentle golden brown that cannot be achieved with chemical dyes. This Jamshidi vegetable-dyed piece, despite using multiple colors, achieves a serene and harmonious overall impression.
The Luster and Intricacy of 100% Silk
Because it is 100% silk, the closer you look, the more details emerge, from the sunburst in the center of the medallion, to the vase inside the cloud shape, the vines and small flowers on the outer edge, the deer in the four corners, and the intricate border decorations. The luster of the silk changes with the angle of the light, altering the depth of the deep blue and deep green. This piece truly captures the essence of Qom silk through vegetable dyeing.
How to Incorporate It into Your Home
At 59x91cm, it's suitable as a doormat, a framed wall hanging, in front of a desk in a study, or by a bedside. The deep blue and green complement both white walls and wooden floors, adding a single, narrative-rich picture to your space. This piece is ideal for those who prefer the depth of plant dyes and the story of small details over the vibrancy of chemical dyes.
This is a unique item personally acquired by the shop owner directly from the Mohammad Jamshidi Workshop in Qom. You can view a video to see the actual luster, the vegetable-dyed blue, and the intricate details of the cloud medallion and small deer. Golestan Persian Carpet Specialist.
