Deep royal blue
When hung in an entryway or on a wall, a yellow window opens within a deep royal blue frame, showcasing a large vase. A bouquet of roses and dahlias emerges from the mouth of the vase, with a peacock perched on its rim—its long tail feathers unfurling towards the bottom of the canvas, depicting a scene from paradise.
Norolahi Workshop's Peacock and Vase (Miniature Paradise)
This piece is from the Norolahi Workshop, specializing in Qom silk carpets. Among their "Tavoos (peacock designs)," this work features a classical composition combining a vase (Goldani). A yellow mihrab-like window is cut into a deep royal blue ground, with a large vase placed centrally. A bouquet of roses and colorful flowers rises from its mouth, and a peacock stands on its rim. This delicate composition condenses elements of a paradise garden and animal paintings into a small size, creating a piece that resembles a painting.
The Luster and Detail of 100% Silk
Because it is 100% silk, the details of each feather on the peacock, the ornamentation of the vase, the petals of the roses and dahlias, and even the intricate vines on the border become more apparent the closer you look. The luster of the silk changes with the angle of the light, causing the yellow window and colorful flowers to appear to float on the deep royal blue ground—the true essence of Qom silk.
How to Incorporate into Your Life
At 51x69cm, it is a perfect size for a small entryway mat, framed as a wall hanging, in front of a desk in a study, or beside a bed. The deep royal blue complements both white walls and wooden floors, adding a narrative painting to the space. This piece is ideal for those who prefer the artistic depiction of a peacock and vase over classic medallions.
This unique item was directly acquired by the owner from the Norolahi Workshop in Qom. You can see the actual luster, the peacock's feathers, and the intricate details of the vase and bouquet in the video. Golestan, a specialty store for Persian carpets.
