Description
When laid at the entrance, golden arabesque patterns spread across a deep green background, and a large central oval medallion emerges like a jewel. Small pendants are placed at the top and bottom, and tiny crowns are hidden along the fringe, creating a subtle pattern. The contrast between green and gold adds an element of dignity to the space.
Sedighian Workshop's Deep Green Medallion (Persian Gulf)
This is a work by the Sedighian Workshop, a leading force in Qum silk. The representative himself was captivated by this piece, choosing it for his "Hard-to-Reacquire Masterpieces" collection, indicating that it would be extremely difficult to obtain the same quality again. This classical Lachak-o-Toranj composition, named "Persian Gulf," features a deep green color scheme as its main theme. It showcases a large central oval medallion, small pendants at the top and bottom, lachak (corners) at the four corners, and golden arabesque patterns across the entire ground. Rows of small crowns line the top and bottom fringes, a classic hidden motif that serves as a testament to the workshop's carpets.
The Precision and Luster Unique to Silk
Because it is a tightly woven piece made from 100% fine silk threads, you can discern even the sun motif in the center of the medallion, the outlines of the pendants, the slender stems of the arabesque patterns, and the crowns along the fringe. The deep green recedes and the golden arabesque patterns emerge depending on the angle of the light, an expression unique to silk.
How to Incorporate it into Your Home
Measuring 78x116cm, this rug is perfectly sized for an entrance mat, wall hanging, or framed as a centerpiece in your living room or study. The combination of deep green and gold complements both white walls and wooden floors, adding a serene dignity to any space. Green has historically symbolized "paradise and prosperity," elevating the status of your entrance.
This is a rare piece, specially selected and cherished by the shop owner from the workshop in Qum, and brought back, making it difficult to reacquire. You can see the actual luster, intricate details, and the crowns hidden along the fringe in the video. Golestan Persian Carpet Specialty Store.
