This piece is from the Milmehdi Workshop, known for its serene beige ground and intricate arabesque and bird-and-flower motifs among Qom silks. Instead of a central medallion, arabesques and multicolored flowers are scattered across the entire field, with a pair of small birds (peacock-like) placed beneath a large rose in the center. Above and below, another pair of small birds face each other, creating a composition of two pairs, four birds, nestled within the flowers. The border features golden Rococo-style arabesque ornamentation, framing the entire rug beautifully.

The Luster and Intricacy of 100% Silk

Because it's 100% silk, the closer you look, the more details you'll see: the gradations of each rose petal, the freshness of the leaves, the layering of blue and white in the birds' feathers, and the fine lines of the golden arabesques in the border. The luster of the silk changes with the angle of the light, and the gold shimmers on the beige ground—a unique characteristic of Qom silk.
