Description
Placed in front of a sofa, the pale pink ground features an octagonal medallion at its center, from which delicate feather-like patterns, resembling peacock tail feathers, unfurl in an S-shape, radiating outwards. The border is brick red, and within it, intricate floral arabesques are layered twice, creating a scene of tradition and elegance.
Feather Design by Milmehdi Workshop
This is a special piece, chosen as "besteveri" from among the Milmehdi workshop's creations. The central medallion is an octagonal star, with paisley and flowers contained within, and S-shaped feathers (pel) radiating outwards in multiple layers. It is a classical design combining the traditional "Lachak-o-Toranj (corner & medallion)" with feather patterns reminiscent of peacock tail feathers. The ground is pale pink, the corners and border are brick red, and lapis lazuli and goldenrod colors are effectively used as accents in various places.
The Intricacy and Sheen Unique to Silk
Because it is made of 100% fine silk threads, every single radiating feather, the delicate stems of the border arabesques, the corner paisleys, and the small flowers in the center of the medallion are discernible. Tiny birds are subtly hidden in the border, discoverable upon closer inspection. The pale pink gains luster with the angle of light, and the contrast with the brick red emerges, a unique expression of silk.
Placement in Your Home
Measuring 158x235cm, it is a good size for a center rug in front of a three-seater sofa, a focal point in a reception room, or under a dining table. The combination of pale pink and brick red is easy to match with white walls and wooden floors, adding dignity and warmth to the space.
This "besteveri" one-of-a-kind piece was selected by the shop owner at the Kum workshop. You can see the actual luster, the flow of the feather pattern, the intricacy of the border, and the hidden small birds in the video. Golestan, a specialty store for Persian carpets.
