When laid at the entrance, roses, dahlias, and lilies bloom like an oil painting on a pale reddish-purple ground, with a small rosette of a sun emblem in the center. A deep purple border tightens the design like a frame, and the silk's luster highlights the shading of the petals. It's like placing a painting of flowers on the floor.

Gholfaran (Western floral pattern) from the Purjahan Workshop

This is a work from the esteemed Purjahan Workshop, renowned for its excellent sense of color among Qom silk producers. "Gholfaran" means "Western flowers" in Persian, a modern design featuring realistic roses rather than traditional geometric floral patterns. This piece has a small sun emblem rosette in the center, surrounded by bouquets of roses, dahlias, lilies, and small flowers expanding in four directions. The ground is pale reddish-purple, the border is a deep purple arabesque decoration, and the weaver's signature is at the top. It is a charming piece that lies between classical carpets and Western oil paintings.

The detail and luster unique to silk

Because of the fine 100% silk threads, one can distinguish the shading of each rose petal, the freshness of the leaves, the thin gold lines of the border arabesque, and every single character of the signature at the top. The pale reddish-purple ground gains luster with the angle of light, and the pink and red of the roses emerge, a look unique to silk.
