When laid at the entrance, a subtle pattern of thin vertical stripes emerges from the deep purple ground, with the central oval medallion and smaller pendants on either side floating like jewels. It's a mystical scene that changes expression from violet to amethyst depending on the angle of the light.

The Noble Purple Medallion of the Shobeyriymani Workshop

This is a work from the Shobeyriymani Workshop, known for its unique aesthetic among Qum silk producers. Both the field and the borders are unified in purple, adorned with the finely detailed vertical striped pattern characteristic of the Shobeyriymani Workshop. At the center is an oval medallion featuring a sun motif, flanked by diamond-shaped pendants, with deep purple "lachak" (corner designs) at the four corners. This is a rare color scheme that creates expression through the shades of a single purple color, set against a classic lachak-tranj composition.

The Intricacy and Sheen Unique to Silk

Because it is woven tightly with fine 100% silk threads, one can discern the sun motif of the medallion, the delicate arabesques within the pendants, the continuous floral pattern of the borders, and even the fine details of the vertical stripes running through the field. Precisely because it is a world of a single restrained purple color, the intricate weaving and the inherent sheen of silk stand out, creating an intellectual and elegant appearance.
