This is a work from the Ali Jeddi workshop, a renowned family of silk producers from Qum. As the name "Sprawling" suggests, the design features a medallion at its center from which patterns extend infinitely outwards. The ground is a deep navy like the night sky, and the border is a gorgeous gold floral continuous pattern with a scalloped edge. Above and below the fringe are small lions and crowns in procession, classic hidden motifs that are a hallmark of Jeddi family carpets. The weaver's signature is also at the bottom.

Because it is tightly woven with fine, 100% silk threads, every detail is discernible: the outline of the sun medallion, the radiating floral patterns, the gold scalloped edge, and even the lions and crowns near the fringe.
