When displayed in the entryway, the large turquoise medallion floating on a dark green background immediately catches the eye. Upon closer inspection, a radial sunburst pattern can be seen in the center of the medallion, and large boteh (paisley) motifs in the four corners. This rug features a classic composition enhanced by striking color contrast.

Sunburst Medallion and Boteh from the Albar Workshop

This is a creation from the Albar workshop, known for its bold use of color among Qum rugs. A large turquoise blue diamond medallion is centrally placed on a dark green field, with an intricately woven sunburst radial structure within it. Large boteh (paisley) motifs are arranged in the four corners and along the top and bottom edges, unified by the contrast of green, blue, and red. This rug reinterprets the classic medallion composition with a modern flair through its strong color scheme.

The Intricacy and Luster Unique to Silk

Because it is made from fine 100% silk threads, one can distinguish every detail, from the radial sunburst in the center of the medallion and the intricacies of the boteh, to the outlines of the scattered flowers on the ground. The way the deep green and turquoise quietly change expression depending on the angle of the light is also characteristic of silk.
