Miniature Medallion from the Masoud Jamshidi Workshop
This is a besteveri work from the Masoud Jamshidi workshop, known among the prestigious Jamshidi family of Qom silk for its compositional beauty and respect for history. The central medallion features a miniature painting of figures (seated royalty or lovers) woven in a circular cartouche in the tradition of Persian miniature painting, surrounded by red and gold wavy cartouches. In the four corners are miniatures of a palace on a green ground (a garden with a colonnaded pavilion). The border is a deep navy with intricate continuous floral patterns. This is a single piece that unfolds the splendor of ancient Persian court culture across the entire carpet.
The Precision and Luster Unique to Silk
This work is made from 100% silk, with fine threads woven densely. This allows for the identification of patterns on the figures' clothing in the central medallion, the outlines of their expressions, the pillars and arches of the palace in the four corners, the details of the green garden, and each individual flower in the continuous border. The gold gains luster with the angle of the light, the deep navy sinks deeply, and the miniature figures emerge—an expression unique to silk. It is a piece that reveals new scenes the more you look, a type to be approached and deciphered.

This piece, "Takht Jamshidi" from the Abbas Jamshidi Workshop, a Qom silk carpet workshop, is named after the ancient Persian Empire's capital, which is now the Persepolis ruins. The terracotta (reddish-brown/brick color) ground is adorned with intricate arabesque patterns and flowers, and the border has a double composition of terracotta on the inside and dark blue on the outside. The most prominent feature is the band pattern at the top edge—the double-headed bull capitals and reliefs of kings and soldiers from the Persepolis ruins are woven in a pictorial scroll-like fashion, thread by thread. This is a masterpiece of architectural motifs, a specialty of Mr. Abbas.

"Window to Paradise" by Mir Mehdi Workshop (Moroccan Composition)
This piece is by the renowned Mir Mehdi workshop, famous for its Qum silk. When laid in a reception room, the turquoise background and gold and orange ribs converge radially towards the central rosette, creating a three-dimensional vista as if looking up at the dome ceiling of a mosque. Each rib catches the light with the sheen of silk, revealing more intricate details the closer you get.
Dome Pattern (Gombadi) from Albal Workshop
This piece is from the Albal workshop, highly regarded among Qum silk producers for its geometric composition and color sense. The owner himself was captivated by it, selecting it for the "Rare and Hard-to-Find Collection" due to the extreme difficulty of acquiring another piece of the same quality. The scene of looking up from directly below at the ceiling (Gombad) of a mosque in Persian architecture is depicted on the rug, with intricate floral and geometric patterns woven into each radiating rib from the central rosette. To make the turquoise background stand out, the outer edge is accented with a deep blue border.
The Intricacy and Sheen Unique to Silk
Because it is woven tightly with fine 100% silk threads, every single radiating rib, the geometric patterns of the central rosette, the small continuous domes in the four corners, and even the border's floral patterns are discernible. The turquoise deepens and the gold and orange emerge depending on the angle of the light—a characteristic expression unique to silk.

This is a masterpiece from the Mir Mehdi workshop, known for its delicate weaving among Qum silk carpets. "Golriz" means "scattering flowers" in Persian, and true to its name, this piece features tiny flowers scattered across the entire ground. It has a diamond-shaped medallion in the center, a detailed sun motif inside it, and lachak (corner spandrels) in the four corners. The field is light green, the border is deep blue, and accents of blue and brown maintain the classical dignity. The geometric symmetry composed of straight lines creates a composition that evokes intelligence and calmness.

The composition resembles looking up from directly below at the dome ceiling of a grand Persian mosque, and as you approach, intricate geometric patterns become visible in each individual ray.
Botanically Dyed Dome Pattern by Mohammad Jamshidi Workshop (Architecture of the Heavens)
Among Qom silk carpets, this is a silk piece dyed with botanical dyes, a technique continued only by the Mohammad Jamshidi Workshop, the main lineage of the Jamshidi family. The theme of this work is "Gombadi" (dome pattern) – a symbolic Persian architectural composition that flattens the decoration seen when looking up directly from below at the ceiling of a mosque. A small sun medallion is placed at the center, from which triangular spokes radiate, filling the interior of each spoke with intricate geometric and floral patterns. Mineral-like cartouches adorn the four corners, and intricate medallion frames line the top and bottom, all enclosed by a deep indigo border.
The Luster and Intricacy of 100% Silk, and Colors Unique to Botanical Dyes
Because it is 100% silk, details become visible as you approach, from the central sun medallion to each individual radiating triangle, the cartouches in the four corners, and the intricate vine patterns of the border. Unlike chemical dyes, the antique gold is deep and clear, the bronze is subdued, the salmon is pale, and the indigo is deep – because botanical dyes naturally harmonize with each other, the colors quietly settle within the radiating movement. The luster of the silk changes with the angle of the light on each surface, revealing the depth of the dome. This piece expresses the true essence of Qom silk through botanical dyeing.

"Night Garden" Botanical Dye by Mohammad Jamshidi Workshop
This is a silk piece dyed with botanical dyes, a practice continued only by the main lineage of the Jamshidi family, the Mohammad Jamshidi workshop, among all Qom silk carpets. The deep, non-turbid black, gentle golden brown, earthy red, and deep indigo cannot be achieved with chemical dyes. The overall quiet harmony, despite the use of many colors, is due to the natural resonance between botanical dyes.

This colour and pattern has been woven only twice in the history of the Mohammad Jamshidi workshop. This piece is one of those two, and was made during the years the workshop was at the height of its powers. The depth of the unmuddied black ground, the calm tones of the botanical dyes, and the lustre of the silk all carry the mark of that period. Even the dimensions — 195×317cm, a touch larger than the standard 200×300 — are an order rarely attempted in silk. From the owner's experience, a piece matching all of these conditions is unlikely to come up again.
How to Incorporate into Your Life
At 195×317cm, this rare large size is perfect as the centerpiece of a living room, under a dining table, or in a reception room. This size is rarely seen in silk carpets, and the jet-black ground complements both white walls and wooden floors, giving the space the quiet elegance of a night garden. This piece is suited for those who desire a quiet story of a garden floating in the jet-black darkness, rather than the overt splendor of a central medallion.
This piece has been selected for our collection of exceptional pieces that are difficult to reacquire. You can view the actual luster, the botanical dye colors, and the details of the flowers floating on the jet black in the video. Golestan Persian Carpet Specialty Store.
